To be swept in the mood of Texan style party forgo the fancy flatware and get to the down-home approach. So set the stage for the Texan mood at your backyard.

Start with a dress code of faded blue jeans or head-to-spur fringe to keep the guests in a Texan frame of mind. You may bring out some posers with naughty slogans like – ‘high noon until the cows come home’ or ‘eat barbecue without a napkin’ etc. Spread a desperado décor by turning your backyard into tumbleweed-strewn dust bowl with straw on your deck or patio and hay bales for guests to sit. Cast-iron cookware, dinner bell, cowboy boots, saddles, horseshoes, bedrolls, wagon wheels, dried chilli pepper, rope, Texan flag and many more of your innovative ideas to bring the right mood. A county toe-tapping music by Texas born country artists is a must, without which it would be a big bore.

Unfold a red checked or denim tablecloth. For napkins, make some colorful bandanas tied with rope or even sheriff’s star work wonderfully at your Texan BBQ Party. Make ‘guest name cards’ to place on the tables, which makes them feel special. Add decorative centerpiece on clay pots with cactus or hide a pot in an old pair of boots and some fresh flowers in the pots.

A Texan’s mouth waters like the Colorado River for a slab of spareribs or a hunk of corn bread. The food turns attractive with mouth-watering varieties of special hot sauce. For adventurous guests add tortilla chips and funky salt and peppershakers. If possible keep the drinks in old styled washtub filled with ice.

Fun at the BBQ party

Guests may be unknown to each other. Bring in fun and break the ice with a dance lesson. Invite guests on the floor barefoot or with cowboy boots for a line dancing class.

Texas Hold’em is a fast and funny game of 2-10 people. The objective is to finish with the best poker hand and win the pot.

Cattle Corral is steer roping. Position a pint-sized wrangler a few feet away and try catching the cattle.

Squirt-gun-showdown to set a lit candle or an empty soda can and get your guests to shoot a water pistol to either knock out the flame or the can first.

Just because sun sets, it does not mean fun has to end, set up a campfire, which is legendary with Texas cowboys, and invite someone to strum a song on the six string to reach to the climax of Texan BBQ party.

If you don’t know the difference between one style of jazz and another, this article is for you. Read on if you want to up your cool quotient while discussing Hot Jazz:

Classic Jazz: More popularly called ‘New Orleans jazz’ because of its origins, classic jazz originated in the late 1800’s – early 1900’s with brass bands performing for dances and parties using an assortment of musical instruments including the trombone, saxophone, tuba, clarinet, cornet, guitar, bass, drums and cornet. At the time, musical arrangements varied significantly from one performance to another.

Hot Jazz: Pioneered by Louis Armstrong, hot jazz was characterized by improvised solos that built up to an emotional and ‘hot’ crescendo that was supported by bass, drums and guitar or banjo.

Chicago Style Jazz: If New Orleans was the birth place of jazz, Chicago was the breeding ground. Several young, dynamic players including Bud Freeman, Benny Goodman, Gene Krupa and Eddie Condon significantly furthered jazz improvisations with a combination of high technical ability and harmonic, innovative arrangements.

Swing: During the classic 1930’s, most Jazz groups were Big Bands who played a robust and invigorating version of Classic Jazz. More popularly called Swing, for the first time jazz was used as dance music. Many of the most famous musicians the world has every heard were swing jazz musicians. The famous jazz swing players include people such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, The Dorsey Brothers, Glenn Miller, and Louis Armstrong, to name a few. Of course, the genre of ballroom dance called swing grew out of jazz swing music.

Bebop: Immortalized by trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie and alto saxophonist Charlie Parker who engaged in chordal improvisations, Bebop was a complete deviation from mainstream jazz that was typically derived from the melodic line.

Bossa Nova: Initiated as “Brazilian jazz” by Brazilian’s Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joao Gilberto, Bossa Nova is a blend of seductive Brazilian samba rhythms, classical European harmonies and West Coast cool. Adopting the Bossa Nova style, West Coast saxophonist Stan Getz and guitarist Charlie Byrd gave this jazz form a huge boost in the United States around 1962.

Afro-Cuban Jazz: Also known as Latin jazz, Afro-Cuban jazz can be traced back to percussionist Chano Pozo and trumpeter- arranger Mario Bauza. Characterized by its highly infectious rhythms combined with Jazz improvisations, Afro-Cuban jazz is typically played using rhythm instruments including bongo, timbale, conga along with assorted Latin percussion instruments and is often accompanied by guitar or piano and joined by vocals or horns.

Now that you know what the different types of jazz music are, you can speak intelligently about the music that you love! So get out there and have some great jazzy fun!

Chuck D, one of the founding members, worked at a local radio station that featured local rap artists, and it was here that his talents were discovered when he was basically having fun “rapping” off the air.

Chuck also made his living by working at a moving company, where he met and befriended Flavor Flav, who would ultimately become the “face” of the group. Over time, the two began to rehearse together, and they ultimately filled out the group and put together a demo tape that was distributed through their radio contacts.

Their sound was an instant success, and the band got to work on their albums and tours. It didn’t take long for Public Enemy tickets to become “the” concert tickets to have, and there were several reasons for their popularity, most notably their innovations that ultimately became their historic influences.

Historic Influences

Public Enemy was seen as a truly innovative band for several reasons. They were one of the first bands to promote and perfect a newly-found genre, that of “rap-rock,” and this was due to their friendship with the heavy metal group Anthrax. This new sound also incorporated elements of funk and jazz, and their samplings came from a range of music never heard before.

Another of the band’s innovations also became an enormous source of controversy. They were the first big-time band to incorporate strong political messages into their lyrics, and these political positions were far from popular with the “mainstream” radio play lists of the time. Their stances were almost exclusively in support of African-American interests, which was a subject that was considered “taboo” until Public Enemy helped make it acceptable. With this success came several bands who followed in their footsteps as well as a host of musical works that continued to develop this theme.

Overall, Public Enemy can be seen as a band of pioneers. They are also known for their intense live shows, which is why anyone who looks at music from an historical perspective should grab some Public Enemy tickets for their upcoming shows.

With CD shipments to retailers down 13% from last year, this innovative way to eliminate the middle man, the record label, has proved exactly where the music industry is headed. But there is a catch, the release is only available via the web site (InRainbows.com) and cannot be purchased in retail stores. The band will also offer fans a deluxe-edition box set that includes vinyl and CD copies of the release, plus a CD of bonus tracks and a lyric book on December 3.

Will this technique catch on? One can only guess, but given the restraints that some record companies have on their artists, early reports suggest that most consumers are actually paying for the release. This release may have made the band more money than previous releases by eliminating the “manufacturing” costs of a CD, including promotion, marketing, distribution and the record label’s cut.

An interesting element to this is that the release is getting more “word of mouth” promotion and publicity than most albums. People are intrigued and are talking about it and large web sites (mostly corporate) are not discussing it mainly because the record company (or lack thereof) is not asking them that they do so.

Now is this a one-time phenomenon or is Radiohead blazing a new musical distribution trail? It could be a bit of both, really. This release is a record label’s nightmare, a band can actually release it’s own material without jumping through the proverbial “corporate” hoops and record label red tape, and actually make money in the process. It also shows an impending trend, where music can be released without the aid of the “hard media” like CDs or vinyl records. There are predictions that in the coming years a lot of bands and artists will follow this lead and may offer album downloads as a market tool to promote their tours as well as sell other merchandise.

In fact, Trent Reznor, of the hard-rock band Nine Inch Nails has stated that they do not have a recording contract with their record label and may follow a similar path of not having a record label to support their next release. Other artists such as Madonna have already followed suit.

So this may be the direction music is heading. Bands have also taken note of the “singles” market, where a consumer can pay for just one or two downloads, and the artist will not necessarily have to have an album release to support the singles. Yes, the digital download is here to stay, much to the chagrin of the record labels as well as vinyl enthusiasts. There is a whole new digital world out there for musicians and one they are running to grab by the horns.

If you like photos, butterflies, singers, bands, rainbows, colors, or anything else you can find a free background for your Myspace account. This is really cool because it decorates your page, reflects something about you, and helps you design your space for free. How cool is that?

Another fun thing you might want to include in your Myspace is a new layout. Every account has the same default layout and while that is ok for everyone else, you want your site to stand out and look different from the rest. Fortunately, you can find different layouts that will help you rearrange your Myspace and make it just like you want. This might include enlarging a picture, switching up the design, or pretty much anything you want. You can layout your space anyway you want and this is a great way to pimp Myspace.

A great way to pimp Myspace is to add your favorite song to your site. That will allow anyone opening up your website to hear your favorite song. It’s fun, cool, and let’s everyone know what kind of music you are currently listening to. You may even want to use glitter text, photo cursers, or add a counter onto your page that lets you see who has been viewing you! Just get creative and have fun and you can make your space as original as you want!

Since the 1980s it has been commonplace for drummers to use electronic drums either individually or as part of a standard drum set. Sometimes cowbells, gongs, tambourines, and other percussion instruments are also utilized in drum kits. A drummer may also have his own personal preferences in spite of those dictated by his genre, and therefore, creating a sound that is slightly different from every other performer in that genre. Some drummers also choose both snares and toms, and though they may not use them on every song, they become part of the drum kit to be utilized whenever needed or desired.

Though genre sometimes indicates the type of drums that are included within a kit, there is no hard and fast rule on it, In fact, even hard and heavy metal bands sometimes tone down a few songs on a CD, and thus the need does not exist for the harder sounds. Even some rock and roll bands from the past who had hard hitting drum sounds occasionally slowed it down through the use of just a bass or snare, allowing the guitars to carry most of the musical sound. After all, when you’re talking about a ballad, you may not want the hard-hitting drum sound, but just a slow beat and occasional cymbal sound is all that is necessary.

The key to knowing what you need in your drum kit is in the type of music you will play, the venues where you will be performing, your budget, and your transportation resources. Personalize your kit based upon what you can transport and the size of the stages where you will perform rather than what you feel you should have or what you want. Even if you can afford it, it’s senseless to buy something you can’t use except for practice.

When television first became a household item it also became the focal point for the whole family. Turning on the television meant a gathering time when the family would get together and either enjoy a meal or a major sports event together. However, those were the days when there was only one channel and hence there were no conflicts in choices based on personal preferences. All this has changed in recent times with the number of channels growing rapidly. The most recent development, satellite television, has provided a new increase in the types of programs available and while there is the benefit that people can fine tune their viewing experience, it also means that when there is only one television to be shared among a group, there will be the proverbial fight for the remote control. The personal computer might be the savior in such a case.

It would be rare indeed to find a computer nowadays that did not have some kind of Internet connectivity and equally difficult to find a home without some kind of computer. While there are some minimum requirements in terms of computer configuration as well as Internet bandwidth, Satellite TV Player software is a service that can easily convert your desktop or laptop computer into a television. The conversion from computer to television takes place through software that enables the computer to receive television broadcasts over the Internet. The software is easy to install and use and may be set up on a work or home computer. Once installed, there are thousands of new stations to enjoy and some of these are not available on regular satellite televisions but are exclusive to the Internet. It usually requires only one down payment in the form of a lifetime subscription to get this done.

Since you already have the required equipment and connectivity, and since you do not have to worry about recurring monthly charges, Internet satellite television is the best option when it comes to resolving fights for the remote control. For an insignificant fraction of what you would have to spend on a new television and the monthly charges thereafter, you could get a cheap lifetime subscription for satellite television on every computer in your home. If the kids want to watch their channels on their big television then you as an adult can continue to enjoy your news and other kinds of adult entertainment through your computer.

Since some of the Internet satellite television channels are not available on regular satellite television, there is an even greater personal choice in terms of what you wish to watch. The easy delivery of content over the Internet makes it easier for the providers to really specialize their programs to individual tastes like never before. Consequently, the number of channels has leaped from the hundreds into the thousands once the delivery medium was switched to the Internet. Fortunately, managing those channels through a computer is a lot easier than it is with a remote control.

Although there are this many number of channels and quite a few of them are exclusively made available through Internet satellite television, the surprising thing is the low cost compared to a regular monthly subscription. Satellite TV Player software has one flat subscription charge for enabling the service and ongoing support but no more charges thereafter. There are no monthly charges of any kind or extra charges for whatever reason. There are no premium channels or special features. You just pay the flat amount upfront and everything is yours. It does not really matter what kind of service you have used in the past but Internet satellite television means that you pay only once and then it’s yours for life. Television does not get cheaper than this. The complete range of channels and programs of every imaginable variety is available to you. The danger here is that you will be flooded with information to the point of overloading and your problem might be of whether to watch something local or something happ ening halfway across the world. There is nothing that you can think of watching and it is not there on Internet satellite television.

It is estimated that an average family spends close to a $100 for a monthly subscription to satellite television. The families who opt for premium channels and special events end up paying a whole lot more and the television changes from a means of entertainment to a major expense of everyday life. When you look at this in light of the Internet option, you must realize that your regular satellite television subscription is just so much money wasted needlessly when you could easily be saving it for something better. The mere idea of canceling your subscription and selling the television is too horrifying for most people to contemplate. The modern household cannot survive without a television.

Besides offering the common channels, Satellite TV Player software also provides access to hundreds of international channels so that you can stay on top of world events. The Internet is the only medium that offers this kind of choice because it is the only medium in which these many channels are easy to manage and view. Internet satellite television wins through on the basis of volume if nothing else. No other satellite television service can afford to provide coverage of more than seventy-five countries with no monthly fees.

Internet satellite television only requires a good connection. You are not meant to watch it using a dial-up connection, a broadband connection is the minimum recommended. Besides your computer and the Internet, you will not require purchasing any additional equipment to view Internet satellite television. Do not confuse this with the type of television on your computer that requires a TV-tuner card or other similar hardware. The only additional component that you need is the software to tune and manage all the channels and that is included in the one time payment you make to the service provider. The installed software will then function as your menu through which you can browse all the options and select the one you wish to view. It behaves like a remote control that comes with descriptions and snippets of all channels and program schedules. This might initially seem a bit longish way to get the job done as opposed to just clicking the remote but compared to flipping through thousands of channels, this is a whole lot more convenient. Always remember that the quality of the channel you view is dependent more on your Internet bandwidth than on your monitor. The more speed you have, the better picture and sound quality you will enjoy.

You must also realize that all this is perfectly legal. There is nothing wrong with Internet satellite television. People often display concern that the broadcasting of such information over the Internet might be viewed as piracy or hacking but that is all nonsense. Internet satellite television is a completely legitimate form of television.

Since the medium of transmission is over the Internet, this also removes any restrictions on your personal location. You may be at home or you may be across the world on a vacation. As long as you can find a decent Internet connection and a computer, or carry a laptop, your television goes with you.

A lifetime subscription of Satellite TV Player software is $49.95. For that small amount, you get a permanent subscription to over 3000 channels with no further applicable charges. There are no monthly charges like in regular services and even then the cost is much lower than what you would have to pay otherwise. Also, there are no hidden charges or special offers for premium channels and so on. You get the whole deal for just $49.95, and you get it for life.

Your computer does not need to be upgraded to enjoy Internet satellite television and neither does the operating system on it. Whether you are running Microsoft Windows 95 or XP, satellite television will work just fine. The software accompanying your subscription was programmed in close consultation with experts from Microsoft and IBM and was built for maximum compatibility.

Here is a brief sampling of what you may enjoy through Internet satellite television.

Music

You can enjoy your choice of music through more than forty channels dedicated to music. You can watch concerts, latest videos, and music festivals from all over the world. Besides television, your subscription will also include dozens to hundreds of radio stations that you can enjoy over the Internet.

Sports

You will be able to view sports channels from all across the world featuring every conceivable game. Whatever your personal taste in sports, Internet satellite television can provide you with it.

Movies

Sports and movies are perhaps the costliest combination in a monthly subscription to television, especially for premium viewings. With Internet satellite television, it is now possible to watch movies from the whole world without and restrictions for premium content. Whether you like the latest hits or the classics, whatever type of movies you like, there is always something showing on Internet satellite television.

Kids

Whether it is school time for education programs or holidays for fun activities, there is no shortage of channels for kids with entertainment for children available round the clock.

News

Global news, weather, political happenings and everything that you need to keep abreast of developments is available through Internet satellite television.

His lifestyle was anything but extravagant as a child, as his mother was a midwife and his father made even less money working at a cotton company. However, McCartney did get to experience the “other side” of life, as his mother’s jobs allowed the family to live in the homes where she worked. This exposure would have a lasting effect on McCartney’s view of life.

McCartney was an intelligent child, as he was one of the few children who passed an entrance exam that allowed him to enroll at the highly-respected Liverpool Institute, where he would meet someone who would play a large role in his life – George Harrison, who rode the bus to school with him and lived one block away from McCartney at the time.

McCartney was also exposed to music early, as a long line of relatives were musical by nature. His father was a trumpet and piano player who had his own jazz band. His grandfather played in a brass band, and these interests led Paul’s father to bring Paul to several concerts of different genres as a child.

McCartney encountered struggle and tragedy early in life, however, as his mother passed way from breast cancer when Paul was only 14, and it hit him hard. He decided to throw himself into music on an even deeper level, and he wanted to learn the guitar. He traded his trumpet that his father had given him for a guitar, and he still owns his first guitar today.

Musical Career

As Paul entered his teen-aged years, he began to play local music competitions, which is where he met someone named John Lennon. McCartney and Lennon instantly found common musical ground, and they began to play in a series of small bands. This led to the ultimate formation of some band called the Beatles, and all they were was the hottest-selling rock and roll band of all-time.

After an historic ten-year run with the Beatles, Paul decided to venture out on his own. Given his fame, Paul McCartney tickets were instantly in demand, and his first solo album, McCartney, was released within weeks of the Beatles’ split. McCartney eventually settled in with a new band, which he called Wings, and his future wife Linda was the keyboard player. Wings was a smashing success as well, producing 15 albums over the next ten years and selling millions of records worldwide.

In 1980, Paul decided to work as a solo artist exclusively after another run of ten years with Wings. He has released dozens of albums, and his singing and songwriting skills have never waned.

Personal Life

McCartney’s personal life was filled with happiness and tragedy. He was married to Linda for 30 years, and it was a happy time in his life. However, breast cancer once again reared its ugly head into Paul’s life, as it claimed Linda as a victim in 1998.

Paul later married model Heather Mills in 2002, and they had a child together. Once again, though, tragedy struck as the two separated and moved towards a divorce in 2006. The divorce proceedings got nasty early, and the ultimate solution will leave a lasting emotional scar on both parties.

Overall, McCartney’s accomplishments and talents could fill its own entire series of books. He remains a social crusader for many causes, and he is still active on the music scene. Paul McCartney tickets are a chance to see not only a musical, but a cultural and historical icon.

Todd himself joined the Orchestra in 1972 and is now regarded by many as one of the best front men in the business.

It was in 1969 that Joe decided, for financial reasons, that he would reduce the personnel to ten musicians and three vocalists. He felt that when the moment was right he would re-assemble the big band. Indeed to this day there are many musicians playing in present day big bands who appear in the Joe Loss Big Band whenever the band is booked.

On the subject of big bands and their leaders there is an amusing story relating to Joe and Billy Cotton. It appears that one morning just after the end of the war, Joe arrived home after a gig just before breakfast. Having had a quick cup of tea and still in pyjamas and dressing gown, who should be knocking at the front door other than Billy Cotton with a brand new motor car. He insisted on taking Joe for a spin and although the weather conditions were pretty grim, bitterly cold and with thick snow off they went into the surrounding countryside. Unfortunately, before too long the car ran out of petrol (it still being rationed that time didn’t help) and Billy left Joe in the car whilst he set off in the quest for a garage. There sat Joe as cold as ice and with teeth chattering when along came the local bobby. Pushing his bicycle, he enquired as to why Joe was sitting in the car in freezing weather wearing his pyjamas and dressing gown. Joe informed the police constable that he was Joe Loss and that Billy Cott on had gone off to try and get some petrol. By the look in his eye the constable was finding it hard to believe such a story, until Billy re-appeared with a can of petrol and convinced the sceptic that the story was indeed true! The constable cycled away with a smile on his face with two prized autographs in his notebook!

But I digress. It was with an eight-piece band, playing in the style of Oscar Rabin’s Romany Band at the Astoria Ballroom, that Joe took the first steps to becoming well-known. His growing popularity brought him a job at the Kit Kat Club where he made many of the BBC outside broadcasts. During his time there he raised the personnel to 11 plus a young lady vocalist – a croonette as they were known. She made her first broadcast singing “Red Sails In The Sunset” the top hit of the day in 1935. She was only 18 and in years to come became the “Forces Favourite” none other than Vera Lynn.

After a long residency in London Joe began to tour the music halls, as did many bands of the day. During the war he took the band to entertain the troops around the UK and eventually to France and Holland. In 1946 Joe began a regular residency in the Isle of Man from May until the end of September, which lasted until 1959. With the coming together of the ITV companies Joe and the orchestra became the house band for ABC and opened up all of the television regions throughout the UK during the period from 1956 to 1960. They were to be seen regularly on television often up to four times a week. This was followed by a long residency at the Hammersmith Palais until August 1969 broken only by an 18-week season at the Empire Leicester Square and 12months at the Lyceum in 1967. They then moved on to the Empire until November 1970 at which point Joe decided to retire. He told Sam Watmough, the current manager of the band, who joined in 1956 that during the meeting he was to inform the band of his decision.

Joe opened his speech saying “Gentlemen, we shall be leaving the Empire and Mecca in 6 weeks time on November 30th.” This brought Stan Pickstock, lead trumpet, to his feet, Stan had been with the band since 1961, who said, “bloody great, now we can get back on the road,” at which point the band applauded.

Joe however was taken aback and said, “I didn’t think you would want to go on the road again, but if you do that’s fine.” So the Joe Loss Orchestra was back on the road once again and had remained so ever since.

When Joe first became too ill to travel To0dd fronted the Orchestra until Joe eventually retired on January 31st 1990, two weeks before his 81st birthday. Joe passed away on 8th June, many thought that the Orchestra would not carry on without him, how wrong they were! They remain one of the most popular and busiest bands in the country. To quote Sam Watmough, who had been Joe’s manager for 30 years, “I knew what Joe wanted and we are still proud to be known as Todd Miller and the Joe Loss Orchestra.” As Todd himself says, “We must be doing something right!”

Singer Brandon Flowers had dropped out of college and was working at a Las Vegas hotel as a bellhop. Guitarist David Keuning grew up in Iowa and dropped out of the University of Iowa before moving to Las Vegas and working at a retail clothing store. Bassist Mark Stoermer was a student at UNLV and was paying his way through school as a medical courier. Drummer Ronnie Vannucci was studying percussion at UNLV and was working odd jobs, including spending time as a pedicab driver in a Las Vegas resort and as a photographer in a Las Vegas wedding chapel.

The band got its start after Flowers left his existing band when he refused to move to Los Angeles with them, and he answered an ad in the newspaper that was placed by Keuning that listed Oasis as a musical influence. Flowers had recently attended an Oasis concert and was inspired by their style. Flowers and Keuning began to rehearse together and found almost instant synergy in their styles and artistic directions.

The band ultimately came together with Vannucci and Stoermer, and they decided to name themselves “The Killers” after Ernest Hemingway’s novel of the same name. The four started to rehearse together, and it wasn’t long before they were playing in local clubs. It wasn’t long before they were discovered, and they signed their first record deal in 2002, and the band moved to England to work on both their live act and to put in some time in the studio.

Success

The Killers tickets became a sensation when the band started playing larger live gigs in Europe, and while this was happening they were also writing and composing their first album. That first album, Hot Fuss, was released in 2004, and was a huge success all over the world. The album went 3x platinum in the United States, 4x platinum in the UK and climbed to the top of the charts in Australia and Canada. The Killers had arrived.

As the band’s profile continued to rise, they began to make appearances on several big-time stages. They appeared at the Live 8 show, played live on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, performed on the set of The Late Show with David Letterman and appeared as the musical host on Saturday Night Live.

As their name recognition grew, the band got back to work on their second studio release. Sam’s Town was put out in October of 2006, and it’s already gone gold in several countries and climbed to the top of several charts. Their sound is consistent with their first cut, and they incorporate elements of electronica and traditional rock and roll into every single they record.

Overall, The Killers tickets will introduce you to a relatively new band, but one that has an opportunity to make a lasting mark on the music scene.
